Check this link: http://wiki.sensenet.com/index.php?title=How_to_install_Sense/Net_from_source_package_(IIS_7.5_and_IIS_7.0)

Can you check if you followed step 5?

In other words did you set up the database connection by creating an Alias in your SQL Server Configuration Manager?

We need to create the Database in our Local machine. we have a Batch file to Install the Sensenet Application. The batch file refer the Exe that is present in the bin Folder. All the Exe Files Having own Config Settings For Connection String. so we need to Change the Connection String in Each and Every Config Files based on your Datasource and Intial Catelog names.

I hope this will Help you to solve the Problem.

I have the same issue... I see that the app connects to the database queries the IndexBackup which returns no values and it throws an exception at:

Line 3048: return backup.RowGuid;
Line 3049: }
Line 3050: private Exception GetNoBackupException()

It does not look like connection issue...

One possible Fix might be unlocking the dlls on WebSite\Tools folders and reruning the InstallSensNet.bat
