Sense/Net 6.3 Beta Community Edition
Sense/Net 6.3 is a major new release with a plethora of new features. Shortly before releasing a new stable version, we decided to publish a beta version of Sense/Net ECM to give developers an opportunity to play with the new features, test the new release and prepare for the upgrade. Please note that this version is for evaluation only as it is stated in the change log
The final Sense/Net 6.3 Community Edition will be release after we fix the remaining bugs.
Main new features
- Query builder
- LINQ to Sense/Net
- OData REST API improvements
- Document Viewer and generating preview images (only in the Enterprise edition)
- Settings infrastructure
Tired of writing content queries manually? We just made that easier by providing a way for users and portal builders to create powerful queries with a few clicks.
LINQ to Sense/Net Content Repository
In this release we are introducing LINQ to Sense/Net to give developers and portal builders the well-known intuitive tools for querying content from Sense/Net Content Repository.
OData REST API improvements
The OData REST API lets you talk to the Sense/Net Content Repository using standard tools like Kendo UI's popular components or custom AJAX solutions. In the previous release we introduced a basic OData functionality and expand, select and filter modifiers. In this new version we added support for the ramining OData query options. We have also created Sense/Net ECM specific custom actions and functions for collaboration and more sophisticated permission handling.
We implemented full OData v3 with JSON verbose response format.
Document Viewer and generating preview images
In the Enterprise Edition of Sense/Net ECM we provide a preview generator feature that lets users open and view virtually any kind of document in a browser, without having to open a client application (e.g. Microsoft Word). The standalone Document Viewer module - that allows you to view existing preview images - is included in this Community Edition as well.
In previous versions you had to put every setting and configuration value to the web.config. From now on Sense/Net ECM provides a Settings infrastructure that lets you manage your global and local (e.g. workspace level) settings in the Content Repository. This eliminates the need for system restarts when changing settings and makes your web.config file smaller and more readable.
