Hi,

I'm using SenseNet 6.0.8. I've already integrate Mysql into it and it works just fine. Now I'm trying with PostgreSql. After porting some stored procedures to Postgres and hacking some methods in SqlProvider class, I got a blank page when visit the http://localhost:8001 (where the SenseNet is running). It throws no exception when I debug the code
Here is the log I get from inetpub/logs:

As a short answer: yes.

Sense/Net is an ECM that can be used for Digital Asset Management purposes as well.
You can store over millions of files in the system. We have tested it with over 100 million.
The files are either stored in the filesystem (as SQL Sever FILESTREAM) or in the database.
Permission, workflow, search and many other features are built-in. File upload is modern browsers is chunked and very efficient. (We use JQuery File Upload and not Plupload.)
What the software may not cover out of the box as of today is the folllowing:

conversion of files (the Enterprise Edition has Office to png conversion built-in for previews),
securing files with DRM/IRM.

You can register in our forum to get community support, also please check out the licencing options.

I'm looking for an open source Digital Asset Management system (to upload, store, convert, categorize, search, view, play, share, and secure video, audio, image and office documents with tagging, permission approval workflow and other common features). unfortunately i didnt find any good opensource asp.net solution.

I can write .Net code for some media specific functions like convert video, thumbnail and preview generattion , resize video and images, with some tools like ffmpeg, NET-Media-Handler-Pro, exif, ImageMagick, flvtool and use PLupload for good upload performance and accessibility and good media player like jwplayer,

Is Sense/Net good for me ?

Hi, sorry for the late reply. It seems that something is wrong with the xmls.
Can you please check that the content type definition xml files are there in the right place, and look like normal xml files?

In the unpacked folder:

Hi sensenet,

I managed to install sensenet on iis 7.0, and the SQL scripts, Import, and IndexPopulator ran without any issues.

However now as i try to access Sensenet on IIS, i got the 401 unauthorised error.

I have tried things like fiddling with the authentication settings in IIS, fiddling with the security access on the Website folder, to no avail.

Please kindly help with some suggestions.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. We have never encountered a problem like this, but it is possible that if there is not enough memory available for executing the SQL scripts (we have pretty large scripts in the install package), than this could happen. How much RAM do you have? Is SQL server on the same machine? 4GB ram should be enough, maybe even 2GB.

The OData REST API lets you talk to the Sense/Net Content Repository using standard tools like Kendo UI's popular components or custom AJAX solutions. In the previous release we introduced a basic OData functionality and now we add more essential components to the module: expand, select and filter modifiers, metadata support and a lots of built-in OData actions (copy, move, delete, managing permission and more).

Aspect

The Aspect feature was designed to make adding more metadata and behavior to content easier. There are cases when it makes no sense to add the custom fields to the Content Type itself because you do not need those fields on every content of that type. In this case you can use an aspect to define the necessary fields for a feature (e.g. Rating) globally and attach it to any content that actually needs it.

Sense/Net 6.2 Community: our community asked for a REST API and complete Internationalization. We listened and released Sense/Net Community 6.2. The new OData REST API that lets you talk to the Sense/Net Content Repository using standard tools like Kendo UI's popular components or custom AJAX solutions. The new release is completely internationalized, all strings are localizable, and culture specific user interfaces are also possible. Just as always, the new release includes many bug fixes and small enhancements.

Sense/Net 6.1.2 Community is a bug fix release with minor features including configurable workflow start options. This enables the users to configure workflows assigned to lists in ways that workflows will be executed automatically upon content change, creation, or will be executed manually.

Sense/Net 6.1.1 Community is a bug fix release.

Sense/Net 6.1 Community comes with an even faster and more robust content repository. The performance and scalability of Sense/Net 6.1 ECMS has been benchmarked by importing 100 million files into a single Sense/Net Content Repository on a high availability setup with all content indexed and being searchable right away. The main page of the system has been redesigned to provide a better user experience for first downloaders. Notable features include support for Office 2010 and Basic authentication.

Sense/Net 6.0.8 Community brings new features and the largest optimization in the history of Sense/Net Community Edition. Content Repository enhancements make Sense/Net a faster and more responsive ECM. We have redesigned the webpi package installer for an error-free installation procedure. News features include uploading or copy-pasting images, security enhancements, customizable login processes, customizable notification messages and many-many bug fixes.

Sense/Net 6.0.7 Community introduces Workspace local groups and a handy Label Picker, beside some bug fixes. This release brings you the long-awaited workspace members implementation with local groups integrated with the user profile concept and also the Office protocol. Bug fixes include MSMQ stabilization, minor UI fixes and a fix in the Node's GetCachedData functionality. This community release is preceded with thorough testing and NLB stabilization making the 6.0.7 Community Edition a recommended upgrade for existing users and a recommended first install for new users.

In Sense/Net 6.0.6 Community we have put large emphasis on stabilizing Sense/Net; primarily focusing on NLB and multi-domain operation. New stabilization fixes include robust MSMQ distributed message handling and enhancements targeted at backup and restore features. Besides stabilization, a lot of bug fixes are shipped with the current release.

Sense/Net 6.0.5 Community includes Enterprise 2.0 features and lots of bug fixes. New Workspace features include a wall similar to Facebook (yes, you can Comment and Like posts), a lightweight blog & wiki, user profile, workspace membership. We also added a better backup tool, a new webpart framework and device-aware applications, so you can create mobile applications easily.

OData REST API

The Open Data Protocol (OData) is a Web protocol for querying and updating data that provides a way to unlock your data and free it from silos that exist in applications today. OData is being used to expose and access information from a variety of sources including, but not limited to, relational databases, file systems, content management systems and traditional Web sites. Beginning from this release Sense/Net Content Repository is an OData producer. Your applications can consume our OData service to create web apps on PCs and mobile devices (e.g. with KendoUI), mobile apps (OData is supported on all major smartphone platforms) or any other type of content based applications. In this first release we support CRUD operations on the repository, properties, binary streams, paging options and custom queries. You can expect a wider coverage of the OData specification in future releases.

Internationalized Content Repository

If you are about to launch an international site or a site translated to your customers' language then the new internationalized Sense/Net 6.2 Content Repository will save you a great deal of work. The default installation is fully internationalized; meaning every single text fragment visible on the UI works with string resources that can easily be translated to any language. This also means that captions that were previously difficult to localize can now be translated easily. Date formats, numbers decimal points and currency also obey the culture settings of the .NET Framework if the .NET Framework Language Pack is installed. You can even localize Content Type Definitions by defining different language variants for field captions and option values. We have tested the new localization features by translating the whole base repository to English and Hungarian.
